Mellanie Culhane

Since volunteering from the age of 16 in my local volunteer bushfire brigade, my passion for protecting Western Australian communities has been integral in directing my career. Now with 25 years experience in the emergency management field, I have specialist skills in all aspects of bushfire risk management including risk prevention, preparedness, response and recovery and have had the privilege of providing response support to many bushfire and cyclone emergencies across the state and country.

With a Diploma of Environmental Management, I am particularly invested in increasing environmental awareness in the industry and developing and promoting ecologically sustainable bushfire management practices.

Having worked between state and local governments, I am well versed in legislative requirements and arrangements and have significant experience in the development of bushfire risk management plans. I also have demonstrated capability in all aspects of project management and strive to deliver practical, collaborative and cost efficient improvements to bushfire risk management practices.
